Joint Baltic Sea research and development programme BONUS celebrates 10th anniversary

Started in 2007, the BONUS programme issues calls on ecosystem research and innovation for the scientific community and SMEs, and funds projects in its remit. Next to producing knowledge, scientific evidence and innovation solutions needed by policymakers, the programme aims to support projects that engage end-users and the society in the knowledge based governance of the fragile Baltic Sea. In 2010, the BONUS member states and the EU officially launched the programme as a Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU) Article 185 activity. As an Article 185, the level of cooperation and joint programming between the involved countries and with the European Commission is high. The 10th Anniversary was celebrated with a two-day event on the 3rd and 4th of May in Helsinki and included the kick-off for the new ‘BONUS call 2015: Blue Baltic’ projects.
