World Soil Day 2019: ‘Stop soil erosion, Save our future’
The 2019 edition of World Soil Day, held globally at the 5th of December, focuses attention on the importance of fighting soil erosion. To this end, there will be dedicated activities across the globe. World Soil Day is intended to raise awareness on the importance of sustaining healthy ecosystems and human well-being by addressing the increasing challenges in soil management. Is has been established within the framework of the Global Soil Partnership, supported by the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO).
The activities of the, currently prepared, European Joint Programme Cofund on Agricultural Soil Management should also contribute to less soil erosion and the restoration of soil fertility. It is one of the actions the European Member States, together with the Commission, are taking to address this challenge.
