ICT-enabled agri-food systems’ call for transnational research
The ERA-NET Cofund ICT-AGRI-FOOD aims to support research projects with potential impact to enable digital technology solutions for a transition towards more sustainable and resilient agri-food systems. To this end, a call is launched for research projects that investigate, develop and test digital solutions for the rising demand for food, competition for land and other natural resources from other biomass uses, globalisation, and threats from animal or plant diseases, environmental and climatic changes, public health considerations and economic constraints. Tackling these challenges will require a coordinated transnational approach, which uses the available financial, intellectual and structural resources to maximum effect. There are two thematic areas:
Topic 1 - Data-driven ICT platforms and solutions to improve the sustainability of agri-food systems;
Topic 2 - Identify and address barriers for adoption of ICT technologies in the agri-food systems.
The call is funded by 28 institutions from 22 countries, 3 European regions and the European Commission, bringing together an indicative budget of over EUR 20 million. The Netherlands is participating in the call. Closing date for pre-proposal submission is March 3rd 2020; deadline of full proposal submission is July 6th 2020.
