FACCE-JPI: Workshop explores emerging topics: relation between climate change and food safety

The Joint Programming Initiative Agriculture, Food Security and Climate Change (FACCE-JPI) organized a workshop, aimed at identifying knowledge gaps and research on Food safety implications of climate change and climate variability on 24 and 25 September 2014 in Bucharest. The objective of this meeting was to identify possibilities and needs for research programming on the topic. One of the workshop's outcomes shows a clear need to bridge the gap between food safety and climate change researchers.

The workshop was attended by scientists and other actors in the fields of food safety and climate change from around Europe. As a starting point, participants shared research topics, outcomes and results on their specific research areas. Break-out sessions brought them together addressing the topics of Chemical hazards, Biological hazards (including mycotoxins), and Food safety management systems.
